John A. Thywissen

John Thywissen is graduate research assistant (GRA) in the Department of Computer Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.

John is working with Prof. W. Cook and Prof. J. Misra, investigating "computational orchestration" — specifically the model of programming languages and distributed computing embodied by Orc.

Before returning to academia, he was a software engineer, business person, and pilot. Most recently, he was a Managing Consultant (among other roles) for EDS in Plano, Texas. John holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management (S.M.U.), a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Kansas), and completed the Accelerated Development Programme at London Business School.
