Orchard is the server implementation of Orc. It provides four major functions:

  • Orc compilation and execution as services via SOAP, JSON, and Java RMI.
  • A mail listener service for Orc programs to wait for a mail message.
  • A Web form server for Orc programs to present a Web form to a user and wait for submission of the completed form.
  • A "Try Orc" Web page for users to edit and run Orc programs.

Orchard also includes a few associated utilities, including:

  • Simple Orchard job and account managment
  • JMX MBeans for Orchard
  • A OAuth client with callback support

To obtain Orchard, you must set up an Orc development environment and follow the procedure HowToInstallOrchard.
